“Come on down Beatriz,” echoed from the TV set in between loud cheering.
Dr. Frederic Kirsch’s pediatric dental office in Coral Springs turned into a viewing party when dental assistant Beatriz Dussac appeared on The Price Is Right game show June 3. Even more reason to celebrate- Dussac was the winner. She took home a trip to Amsterdam, a bedroom set, a hot tub and many other prizes totaling $26,800.
“I enjoyed every moment of it,” she said.
Dussac traveled to California with her husband Mark and 16-year-old daughter Erika for the filming a month ago. She was chosen out of thousands to go to the taping and then to be one of the contestants to win the showcase.
Her co-workers said they weren’t surprised that she won the grand prize. Every day at 11 a.m., Dussac turns the TV to The Price Is Right and begins playing along with patients and staff.
“For the 22 years that she has worked for me, she has taken the remote out of my hand daily and turned on the show,” said Dr. Kirsch. “It’s nice to see that good things can happen to good people.”
Receptionist Maria Tirado sent a letter to the show encouraging them to pick Dussac as a contestant.
“She has never taken a vacation and I heard her say that before she dies she wants to go on The Price Is Right so I decided to send a letter. A few months later, I received an envelop with two tickets to the show,” Tirado said. “And now she’s a celebrity.”
Dussac’s daughter Erika Osgood added, “All I hear about is The Price Is Right and now she’s on it. It’s so exciting.”
But for Dussac, it is not about fame or prizes but instead living a lifelong dream.
“I’ve been watching the show since Bob Barker had black hair,” she said. “I’m very happy that my family and staff are here to celebrate in this wonderful moment.”
