Margate resident Susanne Brussels is the $1.6 million dollar Mega Money ticket winner- and she owes her luck to her mother.
Her mother purchased the winning ticket at Publix, located at 5950 Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs, and gave Brussels the ticket, according to Lottery officials.
Brussels, 50, recently claimed the $1.6 MEGA MONEY jackpot.
Brussels chose the annuity payment option for her winnings in the amount of $80,000 for the next 20 years. The winning numbers were: 09 - 10 - 21 - 31 and the MEGABALL® was 05.
The retailer at Publix in Coral Springs received a bonus incentive of $4,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket, Lottery officials said.
According to Brussels, a frequent lotto player, her mother purchased the winning Mega Money ticket and gave it to her. Shortly after, Brussels discovered that the numbers on her ticket matched the winning numbers drawn. Mother and daughter came to Florida Lottery headquarters together to claim the prize.
Brussels told Lottery officials that her winnings will be used to fund her mother’s upcoming retirement.
