Sparky The Fire Dog Joins
The Coconut Creek Fire Safety Team

Sparky the Fire Dog recently joined the Coconut Creek Fire Safety Team.
Sparky will be working with the entire team, but will work primarily with Fire Safety Educator Christine Cardenas, and will make appearances in schools and public events.
“I am so happy to be working with Sparky because kids are just going to love him. Sparky will be teaching the children to stop, drop, and roll, to dial 911, as well as many other fire safety lessons,” said Cardenas.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) whose purpose is to study fires, create fire codes, and produce fire safety education information, created Sparky the Fire Dog. Sparky is intended to be used as a tool to teach fire safety in the NFPA children’s fire safety literature and as a character for live appearances.
"Sparky will be a great tool for the younger children. He was a big hit at his first appearance at the Coconut Creek Butterfly Festival,” said Coconut Creek Fire Chief Steve Pollio.
If your Coconut Creek group is interested in having the Fire Department out to teach kids about fire safety, contact Christine Cardenas at 954-973-6706.
