Coral Springs police are still looking for a witness to the murder of a man who was walking on a Coral Springs street and shot to death.
Coral Springs police arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Anthony Murray, 30, of Virginia that occurred Feb. 6. Murray was walking along the 8600 block of Forest Hills Blvd. in Coral Springs when his life was taken at 4:30 in the afternoon Feb. 6. Murray, an African American male, was only six blocks from his grandparents’ home when two white males allegedly driving an older model of a red, 4-door vehicle got into a confrontation with Murray in the middle of the intersection, according to police. One of the men shot Murray. Coral Springs police received a tip from Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest of Anthony M. Colvert, 45, of Coral Springs. Colvert is being charged with First Degree Murder.
Additional information leads detectives toward believing a second person was present during the shooting. Police consider him to be a witness that they wish to speak with. He is described as a white male in his late twenties to early thirties. He is approximately six feet tall with dirty blond hair, muscular, and was wearing workout style clothing. An older model red four door vehicle was also seen leaving the area.
“The police can only do so much without getting the public involved. If anyone has information, they can call us,” said Sergeant Joe McHugh, spokesman for the Coral Springs Police Department. “The family was extremely pleased that the individual was caught. They want to see justice served, but they will never be able to replace their son.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Scott Myers at 954-346-1229 or Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477(TIPS).
